Your PlayStation 5 powers on, but your TV says “No Signal.”
No picture, no sound — just frustration. Before assuming the console is dead, it’s important to figure out what’s really causing the problem. In many cases, it’s a damaged HDMI port, but not always. Here’s how to tell the difference.
🔌 Step 1: Check the HDMI Cable and TV Input
Start with the basics:
- Make sure the HDMI cable is fully plugged in to both the console and the TV.
- Try a different HDMI input on your TV.
- Test the same cable and TV port with another device (like a laptop or streaming stick).
If other devices work fine, the issue is likely inside the PS5.
🧲 Step 2: Inspect the HDMI Port on Your PS5
Look closely inside the HDMI port using a flashlight. Common signs of damage include:
- Bent or missing pins
- Black or burnt marks (from short circuits)
- Loose or wobbly connection when plugging the cable in
If you see any of these, your HDMI port is likely physically damaged and will need professional repair.
At ZapFixers, we replace HDMI ports using microsoldering techniques — restoring perfect video output without replacing the whole motherboard.
If you notice bent pins, black marks, or a loose connection, your HDMI port might be damaged.

— it covers the most common symptoms we see in damaged ports and what they mean.
⚡ Step 3: Check for Power and Boot Sounds
Turn on your PS5 and listen carefully:
- If the blue light turns white, the console is likely booting normally.
- If you hear the startup sound, the system is running — it’s just not sending video.
That points again to an HDMI problem.
If the console blinks blue continuously and never turns white, it could be a software or GPU issue, not the port.
🧠 Step 4: Try Safe Mode (if you can get a signal)
If you get any video output — even flickering — try booting in Safe Mode:
- Hold the power button for 7 seconds until you hear a second beep.
- Connect the controller via USB.
- Choose “Change Video Output” → “Resolution” → “Automatic.”
If Safe Mode works but regular startup doesn’t, the HDMI port may be fine — you could have a firmware or GPU fault.
🧰 Step 5: When to Seek Professional Help
If the port is visibly damaged or your console turns on but still shows no signal on any display, it’s time for expert service.
At ZapFixers, we:
- Replace broken HDMI connectors on PS5 and PS4 boards
- Repair torn traces and pads under the port
- Test signal lines and video output ICs
💡 Most HDMI repairs take 1–3 days, and our fix restores the console to factory condition.
